Randy Scruggs Professional, Model 2671 (single cutaway w/Vine, no serial number) '75? What do you mean "has Artist type body"? That it's a double-cutaway? To me, the Musician looks a lot like the Studio. The Walnut/Maple/Walnut sounds like the Musician, but according to the Ibanez Vintage page these only started in '78. What's it say on the truss rod cover? I bought this new in San Rafel Ca. from the guy that was handeling the "Weir" stuff the truss plate says "Artist" it is thick cast metal and gold plated . The reason I refer to the MC 500 is that it has the exact same features and the wood is the same , but has the double cutaway equalaterial horns . The neck is 7 section laminated . the nut is bone and brass . I don't have a pic yet but took some last night so can have in a few days. think this might be a candidate for the gallery . I'm tracking all the "Dead Heads " as Gerry Garcia played one of these at the New Years EVE 1977/78 and someone is bound to have a PIC . Talk to me if you have a 7 string.   Challenger Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:08 am:    I have several interesting Ibanez guitars. 2 '77 Challengers 1 sunburst, 1 sonic blue (custom) sunburst is all orig. exc. for bridge saddles sonic blue is resprayed, has Alembic stratoblaster preamp and DiMarzio HS2s in the neck and bridge and an HS1 in the middle, custom wiring for all three pickups or neck and middle pickups simultaneously and for phase reversal with pull-pots to mantain stock look '76 LP copy, sunburst, all orig. RG570, turquoise custom paint w/two tone and one vol control RG470, black, stock Custom Roadstar w/chrome 'edge' trem and later Ibanez neck with modern headstock , triangle inlays and 22 frets acquired at a flea market for $40, Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, Jackson J500 in the neck. Both pickups are tapped with one pull-pot and cancel hum when combined. Cream-colored plastic pickup bezels and switch knob. Amber nonslip knobs. I have three new ones to add to my collection: '92 RG770 DXVM - this is the RG770 with the maple fingerboard and violet metallic finish with matching sharks tooth inlays and headstock. It is GORGEOUS! '96 TC620 Talman - made in Korea , but WELL MADE in Korea :-) This is the model with the H100 pickups and the ash body. I know the later ones tend toward mediocre at best, but I REALLY like this guitar. It's in olive metallic, and the pickups growl great through a Fender amp (man, I just love Ash as a body wood :-) The chees-oid crushed sparkle plastic pickguard is too cool, too! '88 Maxxas MX2 - in Black Pearl finish, and by all reports MINT!MINT!MINT! I didn't realize that the neck has an angled headstock with a scarf joint. The trem and pickups are pretty good. Here's what I've picked up in the last eight days: 1977 2680 "Bob Weir Standard" in solid EXC condition. All original and just beautiful 1983 RR550 Rocket Roll II in solid EXC condition. All original setneck with flame maple top - it was the first year of the X series, and this was the top of the line. 1992 RG565 - this guitar needs a little work but it's in great condition physically - the electronics have been butchered but I'm dealing with that. J Maybe I should start a new conversation entitled "Why more than one?"   JohnS Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:08 am:    I've recently added 2 more Ibanez guitars to my collection. The first is a '79 AS200 and the next is an '82 Artist. (Not sure what model number, but I'd guess it to be in the 300 or above range. If anybody knows for sure, let me know.) Both were acquired thru ebay. The '82 Artist has a beautiful, cherryburst, bookmatched maple top and the brass sustain block under the bridge. The cloud tailpiece is a definite connection to the early Artists (and a piece of ornamentation I wish Ibanez had kept). Besides being a stunning looker, this guitar sings. The AS200 needed some clean up work when I got it, but it polished up very well. Playability-wise, it's virtually indistinquishable from my '81 AS200. (I call them the twins.) "the exo project". basically an exact duplicate my ex with a small cutout in the rear of the guitar (a la the reb beach guitars, but about half as deep) 3 pc rock maple neck w/ bound ebony fingerboard carved by a master luthier friend of mine named lance (a logo-less reverse ibanez headstock!) the body sides were carved (from a big, expensive piece of koa bought for me in hawaii) by none other than yours truly and finished in deep, deep gloss black. it's got direct mounted dimarzio p/u's and an original floyd rose pro trem. she is beyond beautiful. -also, i've got a jackson thing, and some tore up bass. lol. i'd love to see my collection grow, but i haven't been playing too long (7 years, i'm 19) and have spent about half that time in guitar stores learning as much about every instrument that i could. this has left me with no job, no income, and consequently a small collection. pleasant dreams, and thanks for listening. -mark   Doug Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:08 am:    My Collection consists of 78 Challenger-sunburst 78 Challenger-sunburst-no tremolo-Left handed Model 77 P-Bass, sunburst, Silver series 77 Explorer Bass 76 Explorer guitar   darkman Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:08 am:    Dear Sirs, I have been a guitar player for more than 15 years now, and until recently I have stuck to my Fender Strat which I bought then. A week ago I saw, tried out and immediately purchased an Ibanez guitar. I was very impressed by the ease of playing it and the power of the pickups.... However, I have never used a Floyd Rose type tremolo and what happened to me yesterday at a gig was that my guitar kept going out of tune...in the end I had to unblock the strings and not use the tremolo in order to play. The guitar would go out of tune shortly after I blocked the strings and retuned it at the bridge and without pulling on the tremolo arm. I don't think there is anything wrong with the guitar, I just think I'm doing something wrong. Also, I don't know exactly what model guitar I have. I think it is a RG470 but I am not sure. RG570 w/ DiMarzio Evolution in the bridge and everything else is stock RG570 this was a beater that i got for $75 at guitar center. It will be pretty good when I rewire it. USRG30 Do any of you know where the friggin serial number is? It isn't on the headstock like all the others and there is no neck/bolt plate at the heel. S540 w/ DiMarzio Evolution in the bridge. I tuned this one really low. Actually down to low A. I probably ruined it now. SGR800 Bass with EMGs in it. It's alright. Yamaha 5-string bass-I gotta put some Bartolinis in this baby. Always been an Ibanez copy freak and in the meantime I can call myself the proud owner of 8 beauties. So here we go: ** '75 Telecaster Custom copy, black, maple neck & fingerboard. Original and complete, except the missing "ashtray" bridge/pickup cover. ** pre-'75 (no serial#)SG standard copy. Dark cherry sunburst, no tremelo. Plays & sounds great! ** pre-'75 Les Paul Professional copy. Original, but has had a bad damage on the top. It's restored as good as possible, but still not 100%. The pickguard was missing, so I had to made myself a new one (round pickup edges, so no standard pickguard would fit!) and artificially made it look older. Rare model. ** '76 Jazzbass copy, black with maple neck & fingerboard. Original and complete, including the two chrome plated covers. ** '76 Les Paul copy, bolt on neck, sunburst. (one of) the previous owners has replaced the original machineheads bij Schallers (one could do more damage to a guitar, I know, but I prefer the guitar to be as original as possible) ** '78 Les Paul copy, bolt on neck, white. This guitar's pickguard was missing, so I put on a new one. The previous owner removed the pickup covers, so currently the guitar has two open Super '70's. Sounds like hell!!! ** Pre-'75 Doubleneck 12/6. Dark cherry red, chrome hardware, bolt on necks. Original and complete, even with OHSC. Never played a better 12-string neck, incredible!!! ** '78 Doubleneck 4/6. White, gold hardware, bolt on necks. In absolutely mint condition. Original and complete, with OHSC. Would you believe: I only payed $500 for it! And that completes the situation so far. Do I have wishes? Sure! The addiction will always be a part of me. Some day I hope to add Ibanez copy-beauties such as the korina V, Explorer, Moderne, or perhaps a Firebird, a Thunderbird, a Dan Armstrong guitar or bass, a white SG 3 pickup-model, some fancy EB-bass models.....hard to resist any copy when you come across them. Maybe I can help you out in identifying the SG: I think I got exactly the same one: does your guitar have little plastic volume/tone buttons with a "V" and a "T" on it? (looking at the picture I think it does) and do the inlays in the fretboard have rounded edges in stead of sharp rectangular ones? Then it might be a "Diamond", just like mine. The brand name could easily been removed from the headstock as was often done; better a nameless guitar (so people would at least take a guess wether it could be a real Gibson or not) than making it obvious that it was just a cheap Japo copy. Some went even further and painted the Gibson logo on the headstock.... Tsss, naughty, naughty...... By the way: I added the next Ibanez guitars to my collection: 1 Rickenbacker 480 guitar copy, 1977 2 Firebird copy, bolt-on, brown, pre-ser.nr. 3 Stratocaster copy, white, silver series, 1977 4 Jazzbass copy, sunburst, 1976 5 Les Paul copy, bolt-on, mahogany, 1977 6 ES 335 copy, bolt-on, cherry red, pre-ser.nr. 7 SG copy, bolt-on, white, gold hardware, 3 pu's, tremelo, 1978. As most of you know,I am totally out of control and have been buying WAY TOO MANY over the last year. Well,I have slowed to a crawl now and will begin the process of doing an inventory of the Ibanez guitars (and others) . John S. was over to relieve me of a nice one recently and he can bear witness as to why it will still be a while before I get this list done. I just wanted to take the time to let everyone know,the Wild Maniac (me) on Ebay has slowed to a crawl on purchases so it's safe to go into the Ebay waters again. I also want to appolgize to anyone I may have outbid in my mad quest for the Ibanez goodies and let them know,if there was a particular guitar that you were after,Let me know.I may be willing to let it go at what I paid for it as I must(sniff,sniff)reduce this collection somewhat or start looking for a bigger house. I hope there are no hard feelings out there as there was no intention to step on anyones toes. I am just a bonafide Ibanez Nut ! When I do get the list done,I will list only the "keepers" because to list all of them would probably bore you to death or just make you mad. The main thing is,I am happy that there are others out there that feel the same way as me about the quality and value of these great under rated guitars. P.S. I spoke to another person today who is holding 2 more Artwood Twins in Exc. condition. I'll bet there are at least 50 of them out there and I'll also bet most of them are in great shape since It takes a better than average man to handle that baby for any length of time. Nothing particularly collectible or exciting, I'm afraid, but lovely working guitars '83 Roadstar RS315 - Maple top in bluebust. Has a humbucker in the front fitted by previous owner and is beaten to hell, but sounds like god....! '84 Roadstar RS1200 - Incredible looking sunburst maple top and locking trem. Very loud output compared to other Roadstar...my 'rawk' guitar! '84 Roadstar RS670 Bass - Meaty, and detailed. Lovely slapping action and stupidly cheap... '80 Studio (ST50 ?)Very good condition and the only one I've ever seen. Set neck, not as toppy as Roadstars but cool for 'dirty' sounds. Also, have various other non ibanez stuff inc. Hodson custom electric bouzouki (check out this builders site !). Crafter Electric mandolin. Does its job.... Tokai Fretless Jazz Bass. Nice. 1967 Fender Coranado electric 12 string. FOR SALE . Great guitar but to costly to gig ! Out of all this stuff the cheapo beaten to death Roadstar is the one that gets used the most. Go figure. To the best of my knowledge, Ibanez produced only 3 models with those features; 1983 RS1400 (167 made) neck-through, 2 Super58 humbuckers, ShortStop tailpiece 1986 RG200 IBZ humbucker and 2 Super7 singles w/Accucast bridge 1986 RG600 2 LoZ humbuckers (active), Accucast bridge I used to have an RS1400 (see previous entry). Absolutely the coolest guitar I've ever played. I have only seen 1 example of an RG200. I just purchased an RG600 (the only one I've ever seen). I can send you more info fi you like. Just e-mail me. I want to add the AR1500 and AR1505 among other goodies. There are some nice Quilted top Electra's as well as a really cool Electra Les Paul with tree of life inlay on a all maple body with carved leaves on the body.If I can only find an Ibanez with that....... I also want to share the scalloped neck vine inlay Randy Scrugs as soon as I can get some good closeups of the neck without too much glare. That quilt top with the Bartolini is nicer than the picture shows.It's another hard to photograph guitar because the top is so shiny. I'll figure this picture stuff out sooner or later. I grabbed another Silver Series Strat in sunburst and it plays fantastic.Staggered pole pickups kick butt. If I don't keep selling some off,I'll have to rob a bank since I just can't stop myself with Ibanez guitars ! I am still amazed that more players have not woke up to these. It is a set neck Hondo copy guitar that I remembered from my youth as being a cheapo guitar until I played this one. The construction is really nice although the stock pickups were pretty lame which is why the original owner experimented with the Bartolini. I'm torn as to whether or not to put some Super 70's in it. What do you guys think ? Restore to original Hondo p/u's or make it sound good with some Ibanez humbuckers from that era ? Thus far it consists of 1998 Squier FatStrat-I replaced the crappy origional pick-ups with the AH1 and AH2 from my Iceman. 1994 Iceman IC350-I put 2 EMG 81's in it. Now, here's what's interesting about it. I have noticed in several places that under the black paint there were hints of green. So i opened up the trem compartment and scratched away some of the black. What I found out was that there is some green paint under the black paint, and it's not just any color green, it's Galaxy Green! I know that color when i see, I was obsessed with the J model. I've had it around 5 years now. I think it is a very good guitar in terms of workmanship and detailing. It certainly is quite deluxe. However, as far as tone goes, it is a bit thin when compared to a GB. I feel the pickup placement could have been thought out more carefully. I'm sure it was put where it was for some tonal reason, but to me it would have been better under the theoretical 24th fret. Personally I am surprised at the price of these nowadays. I heard that they have been selling for over $3,000 AUS in Melbourne recently. Do I think they're worth it?? - Not to me. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on one, but clearly people do. My acoustic is a really nice instrument. The all black finish looks great against the aged binding, abalone purfling, and gold tuners. The split block markers really give it a 'top end of town' vibe. The finish is unusually thin on it. You can clearly see the grain where the finish has sunk into the wood over the years. I am unsure if it is a solid top or not. Being black, you simply can't see. The reinforcing fillets inside the sound hole are made of ply, so I'd put my money on it being a ply top. Often the fillets are made from offcuts from the top. Even if it is ply, this guitar sings beautifully. It has a nice complex sound - plenty of harmonics and overtones - perhaps a little bass shy, but real sweet sounding overall. It has a nice low action and the body is deeper than a Yamaha FG series. Overall, I think this is a splendid guitar that was really good value. Tiny neck, light as a feather. 1995-ish Jackson Stealth HX with 3 EMG humbuckers (81, 85, and 58 -- yes a 58 -- don't make 'em anymore). And it's string thru body. Deep blue, almost black. Tiny slim neck, great sustain. Don't make them anymore 1996-ish Jackson Dinky Reverse (the only mod is a EVH d-tuna on the Floyd). Purple, a bit metallic. Stock Jackson pickups aren't great, but stays in tune forever and great for heavy songs. 1982 Ibanez Rocket Roll 2 flame top with Kahler Pro trem. Damn. Can't say enough good things. It's like buttah. 1983 Ibanez Destroyer 2 flametop. Doesn't have original V2, original owner replaced it with a black humbucker, possibly a DiMarzio Distortion. Plays just like the Rocket Roll. 1983 Lado Canadian Devil. Kahler Flyer Trem. Doesn't have original pickups. Wicked shape, neck thru body, heavy as hell! Still getting used to it, might consider selling it. All the restoration work was done by our luthier Craig Upfold. The colour is called "PineLime Splice" after an ice cream bar we have in Australia by that same name and same colour. The neck has been given the vintage look in the finish on the back of it and a "mother of toilet seat" black pearl pickguard cut to the same specs as the original factory pickguard. Craig even went to the trouble of spraying the body colour over the old silver logo on the headstock, it looks as if it was done at the factory. Posted on Tuesday, November 06, 2001 - 5:43 am:    Mark, I too, went for a Jay Turser Artist style Semi-hollow body with the vine inlay on the fretboard. Although the inlay work does not look as nice as the Ibanez with the tree of life,the guitar plays great and sounds surprisingly good. So good in fact that I went for another Jay Turser with the vine inlay on a Jazz box. I found that the necks are very comfortable and the action is great too. Besides,Ibanez choose not to make a vine inlay semi-hollow...and if they did I wonder how much that would be going for now? I also have a mint Cort TRG1 that is for sale. That was a Jim Triggs designed guitar built by Cort Korea. It also has a very nice neck and action but the pickups just don't do it for me. The guitar still smells new even . P.S. NICE COLLECTION ! Of my 6 solid body electrics, it is far and away the most versatile and playable; w/ the cleanest mid tones, too. I love the Prorocker trem for a dozen reasons. NOTE: Mrs. Wolftone: I may have missed some in the total list, but you were the only other RS530 owner. All of the RS530's I've seen (in Seattle) were either all transp cherry over flamed maple or ebony, with the red/black striped binding. That turquoise top must look elegant against that black back. Is the headstock also turquoise? The SR885 bass is one of the most playable 5-str I could find - great neck dimensions, percussive response, and vari-mid tone control FOREVER! Most Ibanez new/used guitars seem to melt in my hands. Even if it was all black (that I hate), I still know it to be a great guitar when set up well. The hard case also seemed to be original. I hope the guy still has the guitar, he didn't know what he had, so it might get of even cheaper. By the way, another guy around here is still desperately trying to sell his red RG140 ('86 also) that has pretty bad belt buckle scars, regular strat pickguard (it doesn't fit at all!) and Fender Am Std pickups.. He asks 500$ for it! I had understood that he asks 180$ when I was testing it, and when I heard what he really is asking, I almost started laughing loud! Man, he had shaped a regular strat pickguard from the lower horn a bit with a knife or something, and the jack plug end of the pickguard didn't even reach the end of the control routing in the wood! I play a lot, my focus is on musicals (I work for two theatres), jazz quartet stuff (sax and rhythm section), and big band (old style in the military dance band and new swing in a city band). I average one gig a week, no "promotional" freebees, all well-paying. My sound requirements run the full spectrum from nylon string to vintage marshall/Les Paul sounds. I've owned Gibsons and Fenders but hated having so much cash locked-up in instruments that I needed for work. Then I found the "bastard." (more on this below). I've bought Ibanez ever since. So here's the list: 1978 Musician, blond neck-through, absolutely mint with no wear, a 350nt from what I can gather, though it has the pickup selector in a different spot than the ones in the pictures on another site (switch by the pots instead of on the upper horn). For those of you who have never played a musician series, beware, they are heavy as hell. This is probably due to the mounds of brass used in the back-plate and everywhere else. Looks great, but you pretty much have to be sitting down. Forget about a strap. Because of this I don't take it out much, and I might sell it in the near future. 1986 Artist Solidbody, Black, a little worn (one of my two main guitars), fitted with a Roland GK2AH V-Guitar pickup (to go through a Roland VG-88, they rock) with no permanent alteration to the guitar (I am a purist, stop butchering these fine axes!). 1994(?) Talman, White, nice "spooge" coloured pickguard, gobs of gold hardware, great neck (best I've played), very warm sound but not muddy, a real hit with the big-bands because of the looks and sound. They sell for cheap, too. The "bastard"- 1982 Roland G303 midi-guitar, made by FujiRoland, Japan, plays and sounds like my 86 Artist. It's a bastard because it has been re-finished. It was originally white. The pickups have been changed to a Gibson PAF at the neck and an Ibanez Vsomething at the bridge. On the plus side, the work was done by George Furlanetto, a famous Luthier in Ontario and maker of the "F" basses, it's signed by him inside the control cavity. It now has a high-gloss red-burst finish front and back and all the way up the neck. The back was contoured to give a Strat-Like shape to it and the neck joint was smoothed-out. A coil-tap switch was also tastefully added. It plays really well, though the neck falls a bit when standing, due to a short upper horn. Overall the guitar was very similiar to a low-end Musician series Ibanez before the mods, which despite my description above aren't really too extreme. There is ample evidence of the original guitar. When I get a digital camera I'll post some pics, as the guitar is quite beautiful. I don't take it out much, as I've had a couple of close calls as far as damage goes. I got this axe, plus an old silver GR8 Roland board for dirt-cheap, mostly because the shop that had it didn't know what the hell it was. I traded them even for the axe, board, heavy-duty flight cases, new cables, and other goodies by giving them a used Gibson LP studio which I hated (muddy as sin). I only bought Ibanez after using this guitar as my main one for about 5 years. 1988 Casio MG-510, also made by Fujigen-Gakki, is identical to a japanese Squire strat but has a pretty good midi-converter on it. No built-in sounds, but tracks fairly well. Great for entering data into music programs. It's mint and all black, including the picguard, pickups and hardware, and has some very chic 80s style pink writing on it. Plus a built-in tuner, a real hit with other geeks. I added a Roland GK2AH pickup to it as well, so I can drive the new Roland VG-88 via the 13pin output, plus drive a separate midi sound-bank through the guitar's built-in midi out. There is also the regular 1/4 output for the regular sound, if I wanted to use it. I got this guitar for $250 Canadian, because again, the shop didn't know what they had. I see older japanese Squire strats going for $450 in Canada, and they're usually beat-up or modded. 2000 Godin Glissantar- nylon string, semi-accoustic, FRETTLESS 11 string. If anyone knows how to play one of these I'm open to suggestions... It seemed like it would be fun to use in the shop! I'd think about selling it if I thought anyone would actually buy it. I sold some other Ibanez strat-copies, but nothing worth writing about. I know this is long, but bear with me... Amps- Check out Roland's old Cube series. I have two orange and two grey super-cubes. They are hard to break and repair easily when they do fry. Great for running stereo (with the Roland VG-88), and they have a warm sound with some natural compression. Most shops don't think their worth anything so you can get them for as low as $200 Canadian. I've had Fender, MusicMan and DeanMarkely amps and they were all crap by comparison. Your knowledge has allowed me to date and identify the 3 Ibanez guitars I currently own. I have been a full time Pro for over 25 years and have owned a variety of instruments.I play guitar, bass, sax, and mandolin. I’m more of a player than a collector; my current collection has been chosen to accommodate my wide range of interests, playing styles and professional requirements. I modify all of my instruments, but all the mods are totally reversible. **1992 USA Custom UCEQM-TP: for Metal, Fusion and great rhythm sounds. Refret New pickups (Seymour Duncan, 59er—Classic Stack---Trembucker Hipshot Tremsetter) **1981 LR-10: For Jazz, Blues, and Fusion. I really enjoy the response of this guitar. Refret Chrome Sperzal Tuners Chrome Gotoh bridge (GE 103B-TG) Gotoh tailpiece (GE101Z). No mods here they are a direct replacement. Keep the original parts in case I ever have to sell.(No it’s not for sale!) **1981 AR-300 CS: For just about anything. It’s a really great versatile guitar. Does all of the above plus rock, pop, and country styles as well. Love the ebony neck. This guitar has become my current favourite. Refret Gold Sperzals New Brass Sustain Block Gold Gotoh bridge (GE 103B-TG) Gold Gotoh tailpiece (GE101Z). I bought the AR-300 about 6 months ago and had it refretted to fix a previous mediocre refret. At that time the repairer pointed out the problem with the bridge. Although the bridge is in really good condition, it had flattened out, making it hard to adjust the action He suggested replacing the bridge by creating a new brass block for the body, buying any new bridge of my choice, and drilling and tapping the new block to accommodate the new bridge and posts. This leaves the old bridge and brass block completely unaltered and stored away in a drawer for safe keeping. The brass body block is easy to remove, it just screws in. I chose a standard Gold Gotoh bridge (GE 103B-TG) and while I was at it I replaced the tailpiece with a standard Gotoh tailpiece (GE101Z). No problem here the threads and width match up perfectly. If you wanted to go a little more up market you could go for a Tonepros bridge which locks on to the post like the Gibraltar. (What’s the world coming to, people copying Ibanez!) There is a very wide old SG style bridge on the All Parts site that might work too. If you use a very narrow bridge you may need to slant it too give you enough adjustment range on the top strings. Anyway I digress. THE RESULT: SIMPLY BRILLIANT!!!!! The increase in sustain is incredible! The new block is pure brass, whereas the original (despite the Ibanez literature) may not have been. The fit between block, posts, and bridge is ROCK SOLID, which may also account for the improvement. The sustain has increased noticeably, the notes are more defined, and the balance from 6th to 1st seems better as well. And of course the action is greatly improved as well. The whole instrument rings like a bell, and that’s before it’s plugged in! I thought the old bridge & block system was really good, but this modification is incredible AND TOTALLY REVERSABLE. If you’re a player and a collector and need to preserve/replace your existing bridge, then try this mod; you won’t be disappointed. OTHER INSTRUMENTS IN MY COLLECTION INCLUDE; **1960 Fender Precision Bass (what can I say?) **Hand made Greg Smallman Steel string acoustic (Exquisite Soloists instrument) **Suzuki Nylon (Good quality, Cheap but useful) **Suzuki Steel String (as above) IBANEZ I’VE OWNED **GB-10 (Really nice guitar but slight intonation and feedback problems limited it’s live use. Prefer my LR-10 for versatility) **1978 Artist 2622 AV (I loved this guitar, don’t know why I sold it, I was a dickhead!) **Blazer Bass (Good quality cheap backup instrument) **59er (I don’t remember much about this one, I used it as a spare at my Teaching studio) OTHER GUITARS I’VE OWNED **Les Paul Custom (My 2nd guitar, was never happy with it, sold it after I bought the Artist 2622) **Guild S-100 (nice axe, sold it to buy a GB-10) **Fender Squire Tele (52 Reissue) Having owned Gibsons, Guilds and Fenders I don’t feel the need to own a “name brand” and have been a big fan of Ibanez for their high quality value for money instruments. I mainly buy all my gear second hand and some of the older instruments still represent good value for money.I agree with the view that some of the Artist series were much better the Gibson Les Pauls of the day. I’d like to compare my LR-10 to a 335. ME I’m “temporarily resting between engagements” and I’m looking to retire from the music business in the near future. I got a Tele with the inlays from Taiwan (there seem to be a few of these "inlay" masters out there at the moment) and it's a piece of carp (sp). The neck was routed crooked and I had to do a job on it to straighten it and reposition the bridge. I feel for you dude. I dumped a ton of $$ into getting both to be players. The Flower Vietnam axe is now a killer machine. I completely gutted a Gibby LP and shoved it in the Flower axe. It's a killer, unfortunately, it's been in a state of disrepair for 4 months because someone has my little oparts and won't return them. I suggest NOT buying these guitars for exactly the problems you indicate with your neck. The six string is solid Koa back and sides with a spruce top, LR Baggs Electronics. The 12 is Mohogony back and sides with a spruce top. I highly recommend them!!!! I picked up the 6 string for 1k even. It originally sold for around 2.4k. They'll blow away any Taylor as far as sound IMHO.
