This is a project in the works that I just have to share with some one. The body is a MIJ copy of a late 60's to early 70's Gibson ES150DC. The tailpiece is from a late 50's early 60's Gibson ES350. ALA Byrdland? The pickups are from a Epiphone Les Paul my neighbor donated. I have sort of gone with a Gretsch theme with the rest of the parts: Brass nut, knobs, inlay, etc. All these parts were scored on eBay pretty reasonably priced. I also have a thread posted in the Replicas (Ibanez brand only!) Topics section for another project using a 70's 2375 neck. I LOVE THIS HOBBY!

Nice axe, sort of like a Gibson ES 335 or Byrdland. The tailpiece is not from an ES 350, however. My early 50's ES 350 had the tailpiece with three parallelograms, which I've seen used on some recent Gibson hollow bodies, though none of these guitars were as thick-bodied (3-1/4") as the ES 350. Send a photo when you've got it all together. |

It is done! So far it is really impressing me with tone and playability. That tail piece is from a late 50's early 60's. I have seen the parallelograms on early 50's also.

This guitar proves that it IS easy being green, after all ... (sorry Kermit). Nice to hear it plays as good as it looks. |

The caps are vintage and came with pots pre wired for about $35. sharpcustomguitars current auctions current auctions. I am problably need to try other pickups to get away from the overdriven sound. I went with .016 caps in an attempt to avoid too bright of a sound and it seems to be about where I want to be for tone. |
